Gwenael Nicolas, Curiosity
Gwenael Nicolas was born in France in 1966 and has lived and worked in Japan for over 20 years. In 1988 he graduated with a master’s degree in Interior Design from the l’ESAG in Paris and after two additional years in London with a second master’s degree in Industrial Design from the Royal College of Art. In 1998 he co-founded design studio Curiosity which is involved in product design, interior and architecture. Curiosity has since worked on projects for brands such as Issey Miyake, Fendi, Versace, Louis Vuitton and Dolce & Gabbana. His work has earned Nicolas several awards, including being honoured twice by the Japanese Society of Commercial Space Designers and thrice by the Japanese Society of Commercial Space Designers. In 2009 he was awarded the Ku/Kan prize, Japan’s most prestigious prize for interior design.
